What Movies Are Releasing This Weekend? (August 29th, 2019)
This is not a good weekend for new movie releases, but there is one interesting option…
* ALWAYS TRY AND SEE THINGS IN THEATERS SO THEY DECIDE TO MAKE BETTER, ORIGINAL MOVIES *
Moose is a rabid movie fan who’s obsessed with his favorite celebrity action hero, Hunter Dunbar. When cheated out of his opportunity to meet Hunter, Moose gets help from a photographer who knows how to find celebrity homes. When Moose’s actions begin to take a darker turn, Dunbar soon finds himself at the mercy of his increasingly dangerous stalker. (via Google)
This movie, by all accounts, is apparently big trash. John Travolta has been a human cartoon character over the course of the last 6-to-8 years. From his “Adele Dazeem” moment at the Oscars to his Robert Shapiro performance in ‘The People v. O.J.’ and even recently when he just didn’t know what Taylor Swift looked like, Travolta has been a lightning rod for bizarre moments. Shit, I almost forgot to mention ‘Gotti’. With ‘The Fanatic’, I get the vibe that it is super over-the-top and ridiculous. Will it be “so bad it’s good?” I hope so because I am purchasing this to stream the second I get home for the weekend. We will be reviewing this with Barstool Chicago’s own Eddie next week on Lights Camera Barstool.
JEFF’S VERDICT: Stream this dumpster fire
Detective Jack Radcliff gets a shocking phone call from his recently murdered niece Ashley. Working together across time, they race to solve the crime before it can happen. (via Google)
This is an interesting one because I love the concept and audiences even seem to enjoy it. Critics meanwhile are split on the movie and cite that it doesn’t quite land in terms of script and tone. David Oyelowo and Storm Reid are pretty solid actors so that alone gives me intrigue for the movie. There are enough smaller, well-liked movies out that I think people should seek out before going to see ‘Don’t Let Go’, though…
JEFF’S VERDICT: Wait for streaming
It’s the same ‘Spider-Man: Far From Home’ that was released but with seven extra minutes.
Seriously, same movie.
JEFF’S VERDICT: Skip it
